Common Set To Release "The Dreamer, The Believer" In Late November

CyHi Da Prynce Recalls Watching Jay-Z & Kanye West Record "Watch The Throne”

The G.O.O.D. Music signee explains how his big brothers work in the studio.

Following yesterday’s sanctioned leak of Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “Otis,” CyHi Da Prynce spoke with 3 Little Digs about how he witnessed the titan rappers record tracks in the studio for their highly anticipated Watch the Throne LP.

“The whole process was crazy to sit there and watch both of them come together and put music together as a group, somewhat,” he explained. “The way that Kanye presents the records as a producer, and at the same time seeing Jay produce records - or have input on the record as a producer, and watching them combine they styles together.”

The G.O.O.D. Music rapper witnessed Hov recording songs in one take off the top of his head while ‘Ye sat at the helm, asking him his opinion on tracks.

“Just the musical part of it and being there, just vibing, them asking my opinion on certain shit,” he continued. “I’m like, ‘Y’all, that’s Jay and Kanye, what are y’all asking me anything for?’ They ain’t just selfish musicians, they don’t think they can’t get better. That’s why we do this, we do this to grow, we do this to get better. They’re two geniuses coming together.”

Watch the Throne is scheduled for digital release on August 1st, followed by a physical release on August 5th.

Tyler, The Creator, Nicki Minaj & More Nominated For 2011 MTV Video Music Awards

Additional nominees include Kreayshawn, Big Sean, Kanye West, Bruno Mars, Wiz Khalifa and more.

The nominees for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards have been revealed. Leading the pack this year is Adele with the video for “Rolling in the Deep,” which nabs seven nods, while Bruno Mars racks up four, Kanye West scores seven, Nicki Minaj nets three and Tyler, The Creator gets two.

The OFWGKTA leader receives a hat-tip for “Yonkers,” which is nominated in the Best Video and Best New Artist categories. In the latter, Tyler is up against Kreayshawn, Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean and Foster the People.

Curren$y Addresses Issues With Former Label, Def Jam

Spitta speaks on how his former imprint missed out on what he had to offer.

With the release of his Covert Coup mixtape and Weekend at Burnie's album, Curren$y has already dropped two of the five projects he’s promised to deliver this year.

Both projects were released through the New Orleans, Louisiana native’s new label Warner Bros./Jet Life. While discussing his 2010 releases with the Village Voice, Curren$y addressed the issue of Def Jam/Universal Music undershipping his Pilot Talk albums."Well, I hoped they learned their lesson, but I'm not mad," he said of the label. "On paper, I guess I don't appear to be in such high demand. But those that know how to assess popularity nowadays see it. Trust.

"I rarely go more than two or three weeks without putting out something online," he continued, alluding to his growing fan base. "You have to make yourself easy to find. Stay accessible."

As he continues to drop music, Curren$y says that he plans to shape his Jet Life label into a respected brand. “I'm big on observing,” he said. “And it was definitely, shall we say, educational to see certain artists going about building their empires, building their own movements: Pharrell with Star Trak, Cam’ron with Dipset. Fans would hear a beat and be like, 'That sounds like a Neptunes beat,' or 'That sounds like a Dipset joint.' That's how I engineered Jet Life to be. I want it to be branded in a way, so the people know what it is."

Curren$y is expected to release three additional mixtapes or albums by the end of 2011.

Pharrell Williams Stars In Previously Unreleased "Ecology Of Love” Short Film

Seven years after the first three minutes of the film were posted to the Internet, the full-length short film Ecology of Love has been released.

Pharrell Williams stars alongside Dania Ramirez in the 18-minute flick. Complex writes that the film is “a story of a stylish romance centering on a broken-hearted urbanite named Andre (Pharrell) who after breaking down and getting stranded in a desert, unearths the resources to woo a French-speaking woman (Ramirez) at a lonely motel.”

Music featured in the clip includes The Neptunes remix of Sade’s “By Your Side” and Sylvia Striplin’s “You Can’t Turn Me Away.”

T-Pain Replaces Auto-Tune With "The T-Pain Effect” For "RevolveR” Album

T-Pain sticks with his word and ditches auto-tune for his upcoming album titled "RevolveR.”

Weeks after announcing that he will no longer use auto-tune in his music it appears that T-Pain plans on sticking to his word. In an interview with Billboard.com the producer/musician revealed that he still plans on ditching auto-tune for the new “The T-Pain Effect.”

“You can't stick with one thing forever," T-Pain explained. "After you figure out how stuff works, you've got to start making your own. When everybody talks about (Auto-Tune), they pretty much say T-Pain. So what simpler thing to do? It's supply and demand. You want the T-Pain sound? I'm gonna give you the T-Pain effect."

The T-Pain Effect was first announced back in June and is a collaboration between both T-Pain and Boston-based audio technology company iZotope.

We’ll likely get a taste of this latest audio technology on T-Pain’s upcoming album RevolveR.

"There's so much different stuff on it,” said T-Pain in regards to the album. “I almost confused myself on what I wanted to do because I've gotten such a completely different audience from...the Taylor Swift stuff and the Bud Light commercial and Toshiba...I've just gotten so many other people and so many different audiences. I had to make different kinds of music for everybody but still keep it classic T-Pain at the same time. That got kind of confusing and hard, but it all worked out."

Those wishing to get in on The T-Pain Effect can purchase it through iZotope for $99. It features 50 beats as well as recording and distribution software.
